The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is set to announce the results for Class 10 and Class 12 exams in mid-May 2025, expected between May 11 and May 15. This announcement marks a significant moment for more than 44 lakh students across India and abroad.
The Class 10 examinations concluded on March 18, 2025, while Class 12 exams wrapped up by April 4, 2025. Typically, CBSE releases results within four to six weeks of the final exam date. This year, around 24.12 lakh students took the Class 10 exams across 84 subjects, and 17.88 lakh Class 12 students appeared for exams in 120 subjects, making it one of the largest school-level assessments globally.
Students can access their results through various channels:
1. Official Websites: Visit cbse.gov.in https://cbse.gov.in and follow the links under the ‘Results’ section to check your scores. Enter your roll number, school number, admit card ID, and date of birth to access the result.
2. DigiLocker: CBSE has partnered with DigiLocker for providing digital marksheets. To view results here, students should log in to digilocker.gov.in https://digilocker.gov.in, enter the required credentials, and download their marksheets.
3. UMANG App: The UMANG app, available on both Android and iOS, is another platform for students to check their results. Simply log in, select the CBSE result section, and enter the required information to access the result.
4. SMS and IVRS: For students without internet access, results can be obtained via SMS or the Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS). For IVRS, dial 24300699 and follow the instructions to retrieve subject-wise marks.
To pass the Class 10 exams, students need a minimum of 33 per cent overall, while Class 12 students must secure 33 per cent separately in both theory and practical exams. In case of minor shortcomings in marks, students may be awarded grace marks.
Historically, girls have outperformed boys in both Class 10 and Class 12 exams. In the 2024 results, girls had a pass percentage of 91.52 per cent in Class 12, while boys had 85.12 per cent. The overall pass percentage for Class 12 in 2024 stood at 87.98 per cent. Similar trends are expected this year, with girls likely continuing to perform better than boys. The 2025 results are expected to follow suit, with the overall pass percentage for Class 12 remaining between 87–88 per cent.
Students can face high website traffic on result day. In such cases, DigiLocker, UMANG app, and IVRS offer reliable alternatives for accessing marks. These platforms provide timely updates and secure access to the digital marksheets.
